Skinuva® Scar is a physician designed and clinically tested scar cream that uses highly selective growth factors within a silicone cream matrix to help improve the appearance of scars. Unlike other scar products on the market, Skinuva® Scar is the only one that uses selective growth factors and other ingredients that have been shown to help improve the appearance of scars using peer reviewed medical literature. Rigorous clinical studies have shown that Skinuva® Scar improves the appearance of scars nearly 2x more when compared to silicone cream. Clinical data also shows that Skinuva Scar is effective in improving stretch marks.

Skinuva Scar comes in three sizes:

The 50 mL/1.7 fl. oz Skinuva® Scar is ideal for larger scars, greater than 6 inches in size, including facelift scars, breast lift or breast reductions scars, abdominoplasty, body lift scars, brachioplasty scars.

The 30 mL/1fl. oz Skinuva® Scar is ideal for smaller scars less than 6 inches in size, such as eyelid surgery scars, breast augmentation scars, or C-section scars.

The 15 mL/.5 fl. oz Skinuva® Scar is ideal for smaller scars less than 1 inch in size.

Usage Instructions

It is recommended to use Skinuva® Scar 2-3 weeks post procedure or when the incision site has closed. For optimal results, Skinuva® Scar should be used twice a day for 3-6 months. It may be used longer for more mature scars.

Skinuva® Scar can be used on scars of any age, although it is within the first 12 months of the scar’s healing phase that Skinuva® Scar provides the most optimal benefits.

Key Ingredients

  • Growth Factors: Selective Growth Factors are the ingredients that elevate Skinuva Scar above all other scar treatment products. Our physician innovators tested and chose the most effective synthetic growth factors in the development of Skinuva Scar. Fetal scarless healing occurs due to a complex upregulation and downregulation of certain growth factors. These Growth Factors reduce redness, pigmentation, and thickening of the skin and also promote the correct type of collagen production needed for scarless wound healing. By utilizing such knowledge, Skinuva's team of scientists, clinicians, stem cell experts, and chemists were able to formulate their first product in its Growth Factor Pipeline: Skinuva® Scar.

  • Silicone: Silicone has been a key ingredient in treating scars for decades. By creating a barrier on the skin, silicone promotes a hydrated environment for the skin to heal, and creates optimal conditions for Skinuva Scar's other products to take effect.

  • Centella Asiatica: An herbal ingredient, this has long been used in Asian cultures for its exceptional wound-healing properties.

  • Hyaluronic Acid: A Hyaluronic Acid is used widely in skincare products to promote hydration as well as healthy cell function and healing, and helps the growth factors in Skinuva Scar reach the skin more efficiently.

  • Vitamin C: This offers a trio of benefits, acting as a protective antioxidant, reducing hyperpigmentation and promoting collagen production.

  • Aloe Vera: This Aloe Vera also helps create a hydrating environment as well as soothes the skin with its anti-inflammation properties.

  • Why does the product have water in the formula and not just silicone?
The formulation has been specifically blended to not only provide the properties of silicone but also optimal hydration from water and aloe. In addition, the water ensures complete stability for the growth factors included in the product. In a large multicenter trial, Skinuva® Scar was compared to pure silicone cream and results showed that there were no observed differences in feel, or how long product remained on the skin.
This paper was published in ASJ and showed that Skinuva was nearly 2x more effective than silicone cream alone.

  • What are Selective Growth Factors?

Growth factors are messenger proteins that are inherent in our bodies and play a role in maintaining healthy skin. Rather than just including a whole mix of growth factors in our skin-brightening formulation, we selected specific growth factors (hence selective growth factors) that we believe have been shown to help improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation.* There are many different growth factors available, but our formulation includes only synthetic (not human or animal derived) growth factors, including Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and another proprietary growth factor that has been shown to help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation by inhibiting tyrosinase*. All the growth factors used in our products are INCI registered under cosmetic peptides.

  • Are growth factors safe?
There is adequate peer-reviewed medical literature evidence to support the safety and efficacy of growth factors in addressing skin conditions and anti-aging. Growth factors have been routinely included in many high-end skin care lines over the past 20 years, with no issues of long term complications or adverse reactions.*
  • Why were growth factors derived from human cells (i.e. placenta, foreskin) not used?
The growth factors used in Skinuva® Scar are not human, stem-cell, or plant derived. We understand there is still controversy with this topic, and therefore only highly selective medical grade synthetic growth factors that are made under sterile conditions in a laboratory are used in the product.
  • Can Skinuva® Scar be used on acne/acne scars?

Acute acne (red/raised/ pimples/cysts) should be managed under the supervision of a dermatologist and should be managed sooner rather than later so that they have a better chance of improvement with treatments and/or products.

If there is an old acne area that has created a depression or a local pit (i.e. atrophic, pitted scar), Skinuva® Scar can be applied, but it may not be as effective if used alone vs in combination with other treatments, such as microneedling or laser treatments, which can be performed by the treating doctor.

Skinuva® products should not be used on open wounds or placed on any active/acute lesions. In instances where the doctor recommends microneedling, chemical peel, or laser to help treat an atrophic acne scar, Skinuva® Scar can be applied post-treatment to help improve the appearance of the skin from the recent procedure.*
